Taub Family Vineyards Description

Wine has always been the centerpiece of the family’s narrative and livelihood and Marc D. Taub grew up with a deep appreciation for the art of winemaking. His grandfather Marty played an instrumental role in the wine business from the early 1930s, and Marc’s father David later joined Marty’s side to build upon his dream. Marc always knew he would follow in their footsteps. This came to fruition in 2013, when Marc acquired Napa Valley producer Heritance – which later evolved to Taub Family Vineyards. The winery represents some of the best sites in Napa Valley. Each wine embodies a pure expression of its respective AVA and vineyard microsite and are crafted for elegance and extraordinary balance.

The Winemaker for Taub Family Vineyards is Tom Hinde. Withover 30 years experince Tom has served as President and Director of Winemaking at Yao Family Wines since 2009 and, in 2012, took on responsibilities as winemaker for Heritance Napa Valley Wines as well as overseeing winemaking at Au Contraire Cellar Wines - an exciting, recently established project in Healdsburg. Tom served as General Manager at Hartford Family Winery and La Crema Winery, helping to build its reputation as one of Sonoma County’s most prominent Pinot Noir producers. Additionally, Tom has worked on the winemaking team for Cabernet producers Lakoya, Cardinale, Stonestreet and Verite.

Wine Advocate: 95 Points

The grapes are from a 4 acre block within the Beckstoffer Vineyard Georges III. The historic Vineyard is a 300-acre parcel, first purchased by Beaulieu Vineyards founder Georges Latour in 1928 and called Beaulieu Vineyard Number 3, was home to BV's Private Reserve de Georges Latour made by the renowned winemaker Andre Tchelistcheff. This was purchased by Beckstoffer Vineyards in 1988. The 2016 is deep garnet color. On the nose, complex aromas with black cherry, vanilla, sage, blueberry, and roasted notes. The wine reveals layers of silky, refined tannins and a firm structure. Dark fruit layers over a harmonious and balanced palate creating a seamless and age-worthy wine.
