Karl Lawrence Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2019
Karl Lawrence winery was established in 1991 and they have been sourcing grapes from the finest vineyard’s in all of Napa. These vineyards include the legendary Herb Lamb Vineyard, Beckstoffer To Kalon, Stagecoach, and more. In 2013 Ric decided to switch over to a single vineyard designate wine and all of the grapes for Karl Lawrence thereafter were sourced from the “Pocai” Vineyard in Calistoga. The Pocai Vineyard is in an ideal location right at the base of the Howell Mountain.
The current winemaker for Karl Lawrence is Bruce Devlin. Bruce has made wine all over the world, Austria, France, South Africa, as well as Australia. In 1999 Bruce landed in Napa Valley working for Ballentine Vineyards. Bruce also has his own “Cult” following for his label “Three Clicks”
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is composed of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot, 2% Petite Sirah, 1% Malbec, 1% Merlot and 1% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple in color, it charges out of the gate with bold expressions of stewed plums, crème de cassis and boysenberries, plus hints of Chinese five spice and fruitcake. The full-bodied palate has tons of baked berries flavors with beautiful spicy accents and a velvety, approachable texture, finishing long and savory.
