2018 Clos St. Antonin - Chateauneuf-du-Pape
Served @ DBFW's "Chateauneuf du Pape Tasting"
The Clos St Antonin project has really turned some heads in only a few vintages of producing wines. This 15-hectare estate was purchased back in 2014 by Isabella Sabon of Domaine De La Janasse. Domaine De La Janasse is one of the most collected and cellar worthy Châteauneuf’s out there. Their wines are key releases that savvy buyers must keep their eye on.
The fruit for this wine is sourced from one of the top single vineyards in the Southern Rhone, La Crau. The Vineyard is owned by Vieux Telegraph and the vineyard is responsible for some of the most sought-after wines ever produced in the Southern Rhone.
All Grenache from the lieux-dits of la Crau and Font du Loup. Shimmering ruby. Expressive, mineral-accented raspberry and boysenberry aromas are complemented by suggestions of licorice and pungent flowers. Seamless in texture and well-concentrated, offering sweet red berry and cherry liqueur and floral pastille flavors and building spiciness. Rich yet energetic in style, finishing with fine clarity, repeating florality and harmonious tannins that sneak in late.
