Cabreo Il Borgo 2019
Served @ DB's "Tre-Bichierri" Tasting
The Tenute del Cabreo are located in Greve in Chianti. Part of its vineyard (Fattoria di Zano) is located right above Greve, consists of approximately 50 hectares planted with Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon for the production if "Cabreo il Borgo".
The rest of the vineyards (25 hectares) are located in Panzano (6 Km south of Greve): they are planted with Chardonnay used to produce the 'Cabreo La Pietra".
Cabreo was conceived as an Indicazione Geografica Tipica (IGT) wine in order to take advantage of the flexibility provided by the regulations of this type of classification. It allows the great potential of the Tuscan's terroir to produce a variety of high quality wines.
Winemaker Notes: Deep ruby color with purple tendencies. Cherries, raspberries, rhubarb, licorice hints of peanuts and sesame, and dried herbs. Medium to full body with a creamy texture and fine, smooth tannins. Refined and round with delicate fruit, chocolate and nuts. Silky finish.
It goes perfectly with all meat dishes, great cheeses, or just enjoyed with friends.
Blend: 34% Cabernet Sauvignon. 33% Merlot, 33% Sangiovese
This has aromas of cherries and raspberries, toasted spices and cocoa with hints of peanuts and sesame. Some wet earth and dried herbs, too. Medium- to full-bodied with a creamy texture and fine, polished tannins. Refined and rounded with delicate fruit as well as chocolate and walnuts. Silky finish. It’s attractive now, but better after 2024.
