Cantine Bonacchi is located in the heart of Tuscany, producing incredible wines over four generations. Enrico Bonacchi founded the winery at the end of the 19th century, the family was initially growers in the industry. Pio Bonacchi, Enrico’s son, was responsible for expanding the operation by acquiring more land and subsequently planting vineyards. Pio’s son Giovanni was responsible for the bulk of this winery's growth, and it was Giovanni who purchased the “Molino de Suga” Estate in Montalcino. Today, the estate is run by Andrea, Giovanni’s son. The Bonacchi brand now can be found in 20 different countries. 
 
This is balanced, textbook Brunello di Montalcino for a very reasonable price. 13.5% abv. so the wine is extremely balanced and food friendly. 

Bonacchi Molino del Piano Brunello di Montalcino comes from the incredible 2016 Vintage which has received massive praise by the top critics. 
 
Antonio Galloni of Vinous comments, “They are dark yet radiant, expressive, nearly explosive at times, yet pure, poised and structured. You simply can’t help but revisit a glass over and over again; because in many cases, the aromatics alone are intoxicating. I frankly cannot remember the last time I tasted young wines from Montalcino that possessed such symmetry from start to finish.” 
 
Parker’s WA chimed in, “Brunello from 2016 are poised for long-term success, they will undoubtedly be remembered as important highlights on a long timeline of vintages. These are career-defining wines for many estates and for the appellation as a whole.” The vintage received 98pts by Parker’s WA which is the highest scoring vintage ever for the region.
 
Wine Spectator awarded the vintage 99 Points as well, making it the highest scoring vintage for that publication.


 

The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Molino del Piano is remarkably pretty, placing fruit first but in such an elegant and seductive way. Pretty strawberry and cherry dusted with sweet spice and flowery perfumes rise up from the glass. It’s silky with cooling acids and minerals lifting the expression, as tart raspberry and hints of spiced orange come forward. This is classically dry, coating the palate in remnants of primary fruit and round tannins, making for a perfectly balanced finale. Very nice.
