2018 Peterson Winery - Primary Red Dry Creek Cabernet Sauvignon

The winemaker for the wine I am about to offer you is Fred Peterson. The Peterson approach is to capture the essence of vintage and vineyard—a philosophy they call “Zero Manipulation”—with low tech, yet high touch winemaking techniques to produce wines of a place, wines with soul. Fred has been making wine out in Napa for decades. His wines have always been very reasonably priced, and I can say I have never had a wine from his stable that I can say is a poorly made wine.
 
Fred’s top wine is his Bradford Mountain Estate Cabernet. You can go to his website right now, it sells for $45 a bottle. Fred has had a long withstanding relationship with the distributor I tasted this wine with, so to get them going he did them an incredible solid. Fred allocated 6 barrels of his Bradford Mountain Estate Cabernet for their own private label. That worked out to be a little less than 3 pallets, so around 150 cases of this wine were produced. 
 
Long story short… The 2018 “Primary Red Cabernet Sauvignon” is the exact same wine. You typically do not see wines at this price point spending 30 months in oak. 
 
AMAZING florals on the wine that radiated out of the glass. Wonderfully rich on palate, but not jammy. Good tannin structure as well. Will benefit from some additional aging, but it's drinking like an absolute dream for the price. 
 Majority Cab, chunk of Petit Verdot and a dollop of Merlot. The Petit Verdot saw some new American oak early, and the Cab some new French before it all went into old French oak for 30 months total. Fred and his son Jamie really have honed in on the freshness of Bradford Mountain while offering a top tier California Cabernet at a price that really doesn’t exist for this level of Cabernet. Only a few pallets of wine were made. We are excited to have this for the final Holiday run.  

A blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Petit Verdot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 4% Merlot and 3% Malbec, this is a wine that will give an extra reward to those who wish to cellar it. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.
