2021 Ingrid - Verdelho
If you enjoy cleaner styled whites, like a Sauvignon Blanc or Albarino. Give this wine a shot. You will NOT be disappointed.
Verdelho is the grape that most notably is utilized in producing the fortified Madiera wines in Portugal. When used in a still wine production Verdelho creates a light and crisp dry white wine that has citrusy components both on the nose and palate. The wines also posses a mineral quality and very subtle sweet herb undertones. We are seeing more and more acreage under Verdelho vine in California because the grape grows extremely well even under extremely hot growing conditions.
Ingrid Verdelho is produced by Chris Pratt, former assistant wine maker @ Staglin & ADAMVS. Chris got his start in the buisness @ Karl Lawerence and Sequioa Grove working under winemaker Mike Truijio. Chris now works full time for Grant Long Jr @ Reverie II and Aonair. All Ingrid wines are crushed and bottled on premise at Reverie II. The wines are extremely low production, all done by hand.
Tasting Notes: Meyer lemon mixed with Key lime pie, tinged with a sweet green herbiness suggesting leafy lemon balm. On the palate, the wine is dry and medium-full in body; yet coming across as light in its feel, a lemon/lime tartness, and more unctuous than sharp in its silky texture. Very crisp and clean, incredible wine to accompany grilled chicken or seafood.
