blossoms slowly in the glass to reveal crushed mint leaves and camphor, then dried black cherries and cracked white peppercorns. It’s velvety in texture – almost creamy, in fact – and presents a savory display of polished black fruits and exotic spices. This leaves the palate with notes of plum, licorice and balsam herbs resonating above a coating of fine tannin. At 10 years old, the 2011 is still in its early drinking window, with many more years of pleasure in store for the patient collector.
